Polyform HL Series Buoys

High Liner (HL) Low Drag Buoys for Short Freeboard Vessels

The Polyform HL Series are premium HL (high liner) buoys, also known as low drag buoys, engineered for efficient performance in demanding marine conditions. Designed with a streamlined profile, these buoys reduce resistance in the water—making them ideal for fishing operations, line work, and general marine use.

Manufactured by Polyform Norway, the HL range delivers reliable buoyancy, high visibility, and long-term durability in both inshore and offshore environments.

Low Drag Design for Better Performance

The defining feature of the HL Series is its low drag shape, which helps:

  • Reduce resistance in currents
  • Improve handling during deployment and retrieval
  • Minimise strain on lines and gear

This makes HL low drag buoys particularly effective where efficiency and control are critical.

Ideal for Short Freeboard Vessels

Thanks to their profile and buoyancy characteristics, HL buoys also perform exceptionally well as a fender for low freeboard vessels. Their shape helps reduce ride-up and maintain consistent contact, offering added protection in working conditions.

Built for Harsh Marine Environments

Constructed from UV-stabilised, marine-grade polyethylene, HL Series buoys are designed to withstand:

  • Saltwater exposure
  • Heavy handling and repeated use
  • Harsh weather and UV conditions

Key Features

  • Streamlined HL (high liner) buoy design
  • Proven low drag buoy performance
  • Suitable as a fender for low freeboard vessels
  • Durable, UV-resistant construction
  • Trusted Polyform quality used worldwide

A Versatile, High-Performance Buoy

Whether used for fishing, marking, or general marine applications, the Polyform HL Series offers a dependable solution where reduced drag, durability, and consistent performance are essential.

Polyform Norway
World-leading fender design, trusted by professionals since 1955.
Innovation, strength, and performance in every Polyform fender.
Polyform Norway created the world’s first inflatable fender and continues to set the global standard. Built using patented POLYMATIQ® technology and reinforced rope holds, each fender delivers unmatched durability and protection for boats of all sizes.

Choosing the Right Fender Size

Get the best protection for your boat by matching fender size to vessel length, mooring style, and conditions.

The right fender size makes all the difference in protecting your boat from impact damage. As a general rule, use one inch of fender diameter for every 4–5 feet of boat length, and always go larger for rougher waters or heavier craft. Consider how and where you moor — side-on docking needs more coverage than a fore-and-aft tie. Whether you need cylindrical fenders, spherical buoys, or specialist shapes, we’ll help you choose the right fit for peace of mind on the water.
